Heritage, Hospitality & the Heart of the British Pub
Since 1471, the Waggon & Horses has stood as one of Elstree's most beloved institutions — a place where travellers once rested their horses and weary coaches found shelter, and where today, neighbours, families and friends gather to share something altogether timeless.
Rooted in the warmth of the British pub tradition, we have spent more than five hundred years perfecting the art of welcome. The food is seasonal and honest. The drinks are poured with care. The atmosphere is always, unmistakably, the Waggon.
Dark oak beams, open fires and the particular warmth only a centuries-old British pub can offer.
Guided by the seasons, sourcing the finest local produce to craft menus that honour British tradition.
The finest Sunday roasts in Hertfordshire — a weekly ritual of generosity, comfort and outstanding flavour.
Cask ales, fine wines and a bar that takes its craft seriously — from your first pint to the final digestif.
Intimate gatherings and grand occasions alike, handled with care, discretion and genuine warmth.
There are few pleasures more deeply British than a proper Sunday roast. Ours has been a fixture of The Waggon & Horses for as long as anyone can recall — choose from Lamb Shank, Roast Beef, Roast Chicken, Roast Pork Belly or Vegan Beetroot Wellington.
All roasts served with rainbow carrots, roast potatoes, parsnips, savoy cabbage, creamy leeks, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Not a detail overlooked.
Celebrate the arrival of spring with our newly crafted seasonal menu. New dishes, new wine pairings, same beloved atmosphere.
